Term 1 week 4 Today we did nothing much . Today we learnt about mercy . We were told to give the meaning and an example for mercy like : Mercy : a refraining from harming or punishing offenders, enemies, persons in one's power, etc.; kindness in excess of what may be expected or demanded by fairness; forbearance and compassion . sentence : He will know how to repay us in kind for mercy shown to him. Then after we have done finding the meaning and sentence for mercy , we have to work with our partners to find the quality of mercy and we have to search for it in The Merchant of Venice text . Unfortunately , we did not have enough time to finish the worksheet and we have to do it as homework . But before we can go for our recess , we have to hand in our drawing of the setting of the 3 witches . Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Term 1 Week 3 Today Mr Chua came . He told us to line up outside the classroom . We went to the ACES gallery to learn a new scene on The Merchant of Venice . The Merchant of Venice is believed to have been written between 1596 and 1598. Classified as a comedy in the First Folio, and while it shares certain aspects with Shakespeare's other romantic comedies, the play is perhaps more remembered for its dramatic scenes, and is best known for Shylock and the 'pound of flesh'. The play's antisemitic overtones can be troubling to modern audiences. The title character is the merchant Antonio, not the Jewish moneylender Shylock, who is the play's most prominent and more famous character. Then Mr Chua told us that we have to search for the charater traits and pass it up on Friday . We were divided into groups . I am going to search for Shylock character traits . After he done telling us what to do , he told us to act out the scene . He asked for volunteers to act out the scene but none of us raised up our hands . Since , no one raised up their hands , Mr Chua randomly picked 6 students to act out the scene . So they act out the scene . But unfotunately , we do not have enough time to finish acting out the text as the bell have already rang . That all for today lesson . Friday, January 15, 2010
Term 1 Week 2 Today Mr Chua was absent from school . So , another teacher came in to relief our class . Her names is Miss Shala . She is a Literature teacher also . Today we learn about a famous writer which is William Shakesphere . He have wrote many story like Macbeth , The Merchant of Venice , Romeo & Juliet and etc . So today we focused on the story Macbeth . Macbeth, is a play by William Shakespeare about a regicide and its aftermath. It is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written sometime between 1603 and 1607. The earliest account of a performance of what was likely Shakespeare's play is April 1611, when Simon Forman recorded seeing such a play at the Globe Theatre. It was first published in the Folio of 1623, possibly from a prompt book for a specific performance. It was about a scene where 3 withces dicussing on where shall they meet up again with Macbeth . After we have read and understand the script . We were supposed to draw the setting of Macbeth . We were told to do this as homework and hand it in to Mr Chua next week . We ended the lesson after the bell had rang . Thursday, January 7, 2010
